Venus Hum - RJDJ App

Venus Hum is proud to announce the arrival of our first RjDj scene.  You can download it [HERE].  This reactive scene was developed and programmed by Chuck Wiggins, in collaboration with Tony Miracle. You can find more of Chuck's reactive creations at http://rjdj.me/music/ChuckWiggins.

RjDj is a revolutionary iPhone/iPod Touch application that unites the artist, listener, and listener's environment to create unique soundtrack each time an RjDj scene is played. The RjDj player is free from the iTunes store, and allows you to play many other scenes in addition to ours. You can get it [HERE] via iTunes. An RjDj scene adds a whole new dimension to music listening - the sounds of your life. Listen while taking a walk, cooking in the kitchen, talking with friends - anything goes. We find that whistling and rattling sounds work especially well with the "Mechanics & Mathematics" scene.

RjDj also allows you to make recordings of the scene as it unfolds during your everyday experiences. Press the record button in the player to start/stop recordings. After you stop the recording, you can give it a name, play it back, and share it with the world through Facebook, Twitter, email, and the RjDj site.

*Mechanics & Mathematics Show

I'm happy to be making a very special announcement- Venus Hum will be doing a live show & taping for an upcoming release!  The show will take place on January 22nd, 2010 at the Monastery Studio in Cincinnati.  This is our chance to really show off our new CD 'Mechanics & Mathematics' as well as play all the old favorites in a fresh setting.  It will be a multi-media heavy show, but very intimate at the same time.  We hope to make it a very relaxed gig, so bring your own drinks, share and mix and mingle with other Venus Hum fans and with your hosts (us) as well.  Seating will be limited so get your tickets early.  Tickets will also be available at the door at a first-come-first-served basis.  We can't wait for what promises to be a really special evening-  I hope you can all make it out.

Switched on Christmas [special edition]e

Happy Holidays everybody!

We have a special treat for you... brand new Venus Hum recordings.

A few years back we released a little Christmas EP called 'Switched on Christmas'. The goal was to make a totally synthesized Holiday record in the style of Raymond Scott (60's synth pioneer) and all those funny Switched on...Bach, The Beatles, Country, Bacharach LPs... you name it and there was probably a Switched on version. Well, we Venus Hum folks never totally reach our goals and what we wound up with was a record with some campy bits ("Suzy Snowflake", "Let it Snow") plus also some rather pretty bits ("Silver Bells", "The Christmas Song") and plenty of synths, guitars, sleigh bells and even the occasional slide whistle. It was also a chance for Annette to showcase all of her Rosemary Clooney inspired chops. We've heard from many kindly people who have told us that 'Switched on Christmas' has become essential Holiday listening for them and their friends... and we are very touched.

So, it's 2009 and we've decided to give the EP a little make-over and even add 2 brand new recordings. The first is in traditional Switched on fashion... a classic called 'I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm'. The second is a new-ish song that deserves to become a classic, Brian Wilson's 'What I Really Want For Christmas'. This one is not Switched on at all, but instead is an all acoustic ballad performed by yours' truly.

Best of all, we are giving 'Switched on Christmas' away free as a THANK YOU to every longtime (and hopefully brand-new) fan. Head over to our Bandcamp site and grab it now, then go spread the word and the love.
