I met with our director, Neil Smith, last night to drop off some audio files and he gave me a sneak peak of a bit of the footage. It looks fantastic! I'm very eager for everyone to see the final film; I think it's going to be something special.

My main job on the project at this point is mixing the audio. I think we might have to release a audio only version in addition to the film. It only makes sense. This will most likely be a digital only release. I'm also providing Neil with all the additional graphic and movie files that we projected during the show. I'm not sure what he's going to do with these yet, but I bet he'll find an interesting use.

Neil also asked me to provide some additional music to include behind the extended interviews we did. I've given him some broken-down elements from 'Give Me Back My Dress', plus I've written a few new pieces as well. This is something I finished today. I felt the music should be interesting, but not too interesting.

I composed the piece entirely in Ableton Live and used a lot of custom patches I've been making using Operator. My old modular (Roland System 100m) plays a big part as well.

Bye for now,
Tony

Kick ass choreography

A friend turned me on to this.
The other piece of excitement comes in the form of interactive music. I'm happy to announce that our new friend Chuck (@cwiggins999 over at Twitter) and I have been collaborating on a RjDj scene. Actually, Chuck's doing all the hard work, I'm just lending my ear and supplying the raw material. Chuck's an amazing programmer and already has a working prototype for "Mechanics & Mathematics". Details will be coming soon on the release (or perhaps releases), so stay tuned and we'll let you know where to go and how to get it.

In case you don't know about RjDj, it's an interactive/generative music app for the iPhone and iPod touch. It's going to be a great way to experience & interact with some Venus Hum music in a brand new way. Go here to find out more and also check out this vid.

I'm working on music for a play right now, which is taking up all my time. But, as soon as I can I'll begin to mix the audio from the show. I got to see some of the film footage and it looks fantastic. More news to come.

Once our show is over I'll be revamping our merch and how/when we ship it. My goal is to be able to send all orders within 3 days of receiving them.... most as I receive them.

Also, we will devise a way to alert you when your package goes out. This way if a package is not received in 4 days from shipping I can send a replacement.

International orders require a customs form must be filled out and shipping will take longer... no way around that, sorry.

It's important to handle our merch ourselves, as with most things in the band. For now, there is nowhere except venushum.com where you can get any physical products. I like it that way. I know that each of you that takes the extra time and waits for an actual CD to arrive are either new fans or have known about us for some time, and I want to keep it that way... in any case your support is important and does fuel all future projects. And I thank you.
